As a community, Austin understands that justice is a right that belongs to all. Access to justice is critically important to me. As Judge of Travis County’s 455th Civil District Court, I serve on a task force to protect domestic violence survivors from guns, I ensure that marriage ceremonies are available to all, and I support Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas, an organization that provides legal services to marginalized members of our community. My court has handled a wide variety of cases, everything from complex business litigation to cases involving self-represented litigants fighting for their most basic rights. Prior to taking the bench, I was a front-line trial attorney fighting for issues such as marriage equality and the dignity of immigrants. As a community leader, I have worked on behalf of recent immigrants and those experiencing homelessness.
I am running for a second term on the bench because I want to build on the work I have already started and make the Travis County courts accessible to all.
